"Sometime in early 2004... ...I shuffled over to the recording studio
...solo acoustic versions of a variety of songs.
...I sang, they recorded and filmed me.
...these performances were discussed for inclusion in the (Live in Liverpool) box.
...it was discovered that the tapes had been mislaid.
...they were LOST!
...they stayed that way.
...guess what?
...the tapes were finally found.
...I said 'Let's put the f*ckers out quick, before we lose 'em again!'
So we did."

Dennis Locorriere *** One of the Lucky Ones

Elegant country-soul from a master of the craft.

For years Locorriere has worked patiently to break free of the shackles set around him by his membership of semi-comic rock combo Dr Hook, and this might be the album that will finally put him where he belongs, up there with along with some of the finest singer-songwriters to have emerged in the 1970's.
Possessed of a blue-eyed soul voice that stands comparison with Smokey Robinson, but flavoured with lazy country-rock echos of John Sebastian, he peppers his songs idiosyncratic growls, giggles and impassioned roars that bring every word to life.
Songs like Guess Again and Somewhere Round Here are immaculately crafted artifacts, and even his occassional slips into shameless sentimentality are rendered enjoyable by the sheer panache of his vocal technique.
When a hot oil massage isn't on the cards, this is the perfect furrowed brow smoother after a long day.

Not only has the guy got great taste and a voice to die for,his delivery is the kind that makes you want to meet him because he'd probably turn out to be your best friend/cool big brother/fave uncle.
I'm already marking it down as a contender for Best Album of the Year...with 11 months to go...
